Annual Sports Carnival
A fantastic day was had by all at the Annual Sports Carnival, thank you to everyone that got into the spirit of things and dressed up in the theme of 'Rio Olympics'. Thompson house won on the day!!

Year 12 Marine Class Camp
The year 12 Marine class ventured off on a five day education camp to the eco-resort of Lady Elliot Island, to explore first-hand the health of the reef and the impact of humans. With five o'clock starts and long days snorkelling with sharks, manta rays and turtles, there was hardly time to hit the classroom, but the education staff on the island kept it interesting enough to keep them awake. The general vibe on the long trip home was that the reef needs to be in our forethoughts, that such an amazing resource needs to be protected and it was agreed that everyone had a once in a lifetime experience.

Instrumental Students
Helensvale High Instrumental students have just returned on Monday this week from a week long band tour to Townsville. The tour involved a number of performances at different Townsville venues as well as a performance at Hervey Bay on the way north. All students and staff agreed the tour was a huge success with valuable performance and workshop opportunities as well as some sightseeing highlights which included a tour of 'Smile's stadium, the home of the Cowboys. Unfortunately Jonathon Thurston wasn't there for selfies…. The tour group travelled by bus to and from Townsville with not many stops along the way so all were glad to be home again Monday morning after travelling all night. Many thanks for all the support from parents who helped make this tour happen and to our instrumental staff, Cindy Ashton, Randal Scheerle and James Henshaw for travelling with the students. A HUGE thankyou to Cindy Ashton for the hours of preparation involved in organising the trip as well as managing everything during the tour.
